Position: WordPress Back-End Developer
Work hours: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Brisbane Time
Compensation range: AU$3,000 - AU$4,000/month

About the role
Our client is on the lookout for a talented and experienced WordPress Back-End Developer to join their team. In this role, you'll bring your solid skills in PHP, JavaScript, MySQL, and HTML/CSS to tackle a wide range of technical tasks. From building custom themes and plugins to optimizing performance and ensuring seamless user experiences, you'll play a key part in shaping the digital presence of their projects.

Responsibilities:

• Build, maintain, and optimize custom WordPress plugins and themes.
• Launch new WordPress websites and implement custom functionality.
• Diagnose and resolve WordPress issues, including plugin conflicts, hosting problems, and other technical challenges, while recommending practical solutions.
• Work with PHP to debug existing code and develop new functionality.
• Develop and manage custom API and third-party integrations using PHP and JavaScript.
• Collaborate with SEO and project teams to implement technical SEO fixes, improve site speed, and integrate structured data (schema).
• Advise internal teams on best development practices and integration approaches, and escalate issues when necessary.
• Maintain a strong focus on performance, reliability, and scalable solutions.

Requirements:

•  At least 3–5 years of experience in WordPress back-end development.
• Highly proficient in PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and MySQL.
• Proven experience in full-stack WordPress Development with emphasis on the back-end.
• Strong communicator with excellent spoken and written English.
• Personable, dependable, and a collaborative team player.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with diverse technical challenges.
• Enjoys problem-solving, troubleshooting, and crafting clean, efficient code.
• Familiarity with site speed optimization, structured data/schema, and hosting diagnostics.
