Position: Accounting Specialist (Bookkeeping & Financial Reporting)
Work hours: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm Sydney time
Compensation range: US$1,300-US$1,600/month

About the role
As an Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for managing client bookkeeping tasks, performing end-of-month balance sheet reconciliations, and assisting in the preparation of financial reports.
This role requires a high level of accuracy, proactive client communication, and an understanding of the relationship between the P&L and balance sheet to support our Fractional CFO advisory services.
We are looking for a self starter who can run the bookkeeping clients with minimal supervision, as well as contribute to the reporting preparation for the advisory side of the business.
We want someone who can problem solve and think critically for themselves to improve our client's processes and their clients' experience, not someone to just blindly follow a process.
Responsibilities:
1. Communication & Client Service
* Respond promptly and professionally to client inquiries via email.
* Proactively reach out to clients for required documentation and information.
* Provide high-quality support while representing our company’s values and standards.
2. Bookkeeping & Financial Tasks
* Manage daily bookkeeping tasks, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and maintaining accurate financial records.
* Conduct end-of-month balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
* Identify and implement process improvements, such as setting up bank rules, to streamline bookkeeping workflows.
3. Financial Reporting Support
* Assist in rolling forward our reporting templates, preparing financial dashboards, and ensuring data accuracy for monthly coaching calls.
* Support the preparation of management reports by ensuring numbers are accurate, timely, and easy to interpret for advisory purposes.
* Understand the integration of the balance sheet and P&L to provide meaningful insights within reports.
4. Time Management & Organization
* Organize and manage your tasks effectively, adhering to client timelines and ensuring work is completed on schedule.
* Track weekly progress using ClickUp to ensure all assignments are aligned with deadlines and objectives.
5. Learning & Problem-Solving
* Demonstrate initiative to learn new processes and improve efficiency in your work.
* Approach technical issues with a proactive mindset, seeking assistance when necessary to maintain smooth operations.
Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in bookkeeping or accounting, ideally with exposure to financial reporting tasks for Australian clients.

Skills:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, especially as they relate to P&L, Balance sheet & cash flow forecasting.
- Proficient in Xero and Excel/Google Sheets, with experience in using ClickUp or similar project management software.
- Experience using G-Accon automations a bonus (but will be taught on the job)
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational abilities, and problem-solving skills.
- Clear and concise communication, both written and verbal.
