About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced and advanced Accounts Clerk/Bookkeeper to support their finance team by managing high-volume transaction processing, bank reconciliations, receipt management, and accounts administration.
This role will play a critical part in ensuring financial records remain accurate and up to date, while helping eliminate backlogs and supporting efficient month-end processes. The ideal candidate will have strong bookkeeping fundamentals, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Process and enter high volumes of credit card, debit card, subscription, and bank transactions into the system.
Manage daily customer direct deposits and apply payments to customer orders.
Match transactions against supporting documentation and maintain accurate financial records.
Perform bank reconciliation preparation and transaction matching activities.
Assist with month-end reconciliation processes to ensure accounts are ready for final review.
Monitor and manage accounts payable email inboxes and organise incoming invoices, receipts, statements, and supporting documentation.
Maintain digital filing systems and ensure financial documents are stored correctly.
Follow up with internal stakeholders to obtain missing receipts, invoices, and supporting documentation.
Track outstanding transaction queries and escalate unresolved items to the finance team when required.
Review transactions for GST treatment and identify when GST is applicable or not applicable.
Support transaction coding and data accuracy across multiple business entities.
Assist with identifying opportunities to improve processes and automate manual finance workflows.
Provide regular updates on outstanding transactions, reconciliation status, and unresolved issues.
Support additional accounts payable and finance administration tasks as required.
Requirements
At least 5 years of experience in bookkeeping and accounts administration, including hands-on and strong experience supporting Australian bookkeeping practices is required.
Strong understanding of bank reconciliations and high-volume transaction processing.
Experience working with invoices, receipts, supplier payments, and financial documentation.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy across large transaction volumes.
Ability to investigate discrepancies and resolve issues independently.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Asana, and accounting systems such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar platforms.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to follow processes while also applying critical thinking when situations fall outside standard procedures.
Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Experience supporting month-end finance activities is highly regarded.
