About the role
Our client is looking for an Ecommerce Senior Paid Media Specialist who focuses on Meta advertising and full ownership of Shopify store performance, driving profitable growth and improved ROAS. This role is critical in scaling the e-commerce channel and driving profitable growth across the brand’s stores.
This is a senior, performance-driven role suited to an accomplished ecommerce professional who has successfully managed a seven-figure annual Meta ad budget (AUD $1M+ per annum or higher) and delivered measurable revenue growth at scale.
The role owns the end-to-end paid acquisition strategy, including media buying, funnel development, audience architecture, creative testing frameworks, conversion optimisation, and performance reporting. The successful candidate will play a key part in shaping the e-commerce function, working closely with the Digital Marketing Manager and reporting directly to the Founder.
Responsibilities
A. Paid Media Strategy & Execution
Develop and lead the full paid acquisition strategy across Meta as the primary channel, as well as Google Ads (Search, Performance Max, YouTube), TikTok Ads/Shopping, and other commercially viable platforms.
Manage and scale seven-figure Meta ad accounts with a strong emphasis on improving ROAS and overall profitability.
Own the paid media roadmap aligned with revenue targets, product launches, promotional calendars, and growth milestones.
Build, implement, and optimise full-funnel campaign structures, including cold acquisition, retargeting, loyalty, and repeat purchase campaigns.
Manage budget allocation and pacing to ensure spend aligns with revenue goals, margin targets, and overall business objectives.
Analyse costs including product, shipping, and margins to ensure campaigns are profitable.
B. Meta Ads Leadership
Lead Meta advertising at an expert level, managing and scaling seven-figure ad accounts with a strong emphasis on profitable growth.
Execute advanced audience building strategies, including custom, lookalike, broad and value-based audiences, to improve traffic quality and purchase intent.
Develop and execute structured A/B testing frameworks across creatives, headlines, offers, landing pages, and funnel sequences.
Drive measurable improvements in ROAS, CPA, CTR, conversion rate and average order value.
Implement scaling strategies that maintain or improve ROAS and overall MER.
C. Conversion Rate & Funnel Optimisation
Collaborate with marketing, content, and creative teams to improve landing page performance and product page conversion.
Work with marketing, content, and creative teams to refine messaging, strengthen offer positioning, and improve conversion outcomes from paid traffic.
Refine messaging, offer positioning, and funnel sequencing to maximise paid traffic performance.
Conduct structured A/B testing across creatives, headlines, offers, landing pages, and funnel sequences.
Ensure high-intent audiences are being directed to the website and continuously refine targeting to improve conversion outcomes.
D. Performance Analytics & Reporting
Provide structured weekly and monthly performance reporting to the Founder and leadership team, including channel breakdowns, traffic growth, ROAS trends, CPA trends, MER and revenue attribution insights.
Maintain accurate forecasting and budget tracking to support scalable growth.
Identify performance risks and scaling opportunities, and present forward-looking strategic recommendations.
Recommend improvements to reporting systems and dashboards, including enhancements beyond existing Excel-based reporting where appropriate.
E. Cross-Channel Expansion & Growth
Support expansion and optimisation across Google Ads, TikTok Shopping and other acquisition channels where commercially viable.
Contribute to multi-country ad account management as new Shopify stores launch internationally.
Test new acquisition channels where strategically appropriate and stay up to date with industry best practice and platform updates.
F. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with the marketing, content and creative teams to align paid media strategy with campaign calendars and promotional activity.
Provide clear, data-driven creative briefs and communicate winning angles, audience insights and performance gaps.
Collaborate directly with the Founder, confidently presenting insights and strategic recommendations.
G. Ownership & Leadership
Operate as a self-starter with full accountability for performance outcomes and revenue growth targets.
Take initiative in identifying problems and implementing scalable solutions.
Lead the ecommerce advertising function and identify future hiring needs as the channel grows.
Maintain a high-performance mindset focused on long-term, scalable systems rather than short-term wins.
Requirements
At least 5 years’ experience in paid media, with strong senior-level expertise in Meta advertising.
Proven experience managing seven-figure Meta ad accounts with demonstrated profitable growth.
Strong background in Shopify performance marketing environments with deep understanding of ecommerce metrics and margin-based decision-making.
Proficiency with Meta Analytics, Google Analytics (GA4), SEMrush, and advanced spreadsheet reporting Excel is required.
Demonstrated ability to scale campaigns while maintaining or improving ROAS.
Experience managing or supporting multi-country ad accounts is a plus.
Experience with TikTok Ads/Shopping, Google Ads, or YouTube Ads is highly desirable.
Proactive, strategic thinker with excellent communication skills.
Comfortable reporting directly to senior leadership and making data-driven decisions.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
